So..
Now you have problem with connection and must be fix your box with null mode cable not possible with lan cable..
So try another cable or another pc (win xp better)

I am using null modem configuration all the time I am not using lan.
I have tried every combination I can find of null modem connections.
I must admit I am not using XP

Tried XP same problem.
Proved my setup cable using Dreambox 500S and Dreamup and that communicates OK using the USB to serial adater and the Null Modem cable setup as per your diagram.
I can sse communication coming out of the box on pin 3 but no response from Optiflasher or Dreamup or NCF.

It is not necessary if cable was work on 500s then will work on 800hd...
Every one had same your problem we discovered issue from communication:
1-Null cable
2-PC port or Communication option
3-Dreambox port

Any way try this maybe help you:
1-open SUNRAY-FlashUP (dreamup for sim2) if you not have Google it.
2-Select port and also use network lan.
3-Click connect and turn on box

See did you see ip on Oled (small screen) if yes put it on browser and flash bootloader for your sim>>>
