I followed the steps mentioned in that thread. I tried flashing without network lan. but it stops everytime at the step you see in my screenshot. It makes no difference if I try to write bootloader or image. and with dreamup it doesn't get further then: upload completed, waiting for acknowledge...
Your box is 500HD, So should be use both cable to gather (mini usb+Lan)
And try to connect Lan cable from Pc to box direct without router ...
Also if you doesn't succeed with optiflasher try Dreamup 1.3.3.9
