No Ca Found! (Sim 2.10) - Julez101 - 05-12-2013

Hello all! I am new here and hope to be able to help otherrs as I will be helped.

I am sitting with a dreambox dm800hd pvr with sim card 2.10. I had a gemini image previously and had replaced the cable card for a satellite dvb_s. I then thought I would browse and change the image I was using. I tried a few times and got the error that the file was not valid. I tried the http while doing this. I then did some research and saw I needed to update the loader. I plugged in my rs232 and it was not picking up the box. I then decided, like a smart ass, to try upload the loader via http and that was the biggest mistake I could have made! After that I got the error no ca found.

Now I have been sitting on this for about a week 5 hours a day trying to fix the problem and have had no luck at all. All methods have been tried, from patched dreamup to ncf to optiflasher, enforcer etc etc etc and nothing seems to be working. I have 2 lights on lan which are always on even if network is unplugged. I also have tried 3 different serial to usb cables as well as the null modem cable on an old pc with the port and still no communication. I also tried to solder the wires onto the rs232 in reverse as another forum mentioned some boxes are reversed and when doing so I was able to use hyperterminal but get loads of strange characters which stream down the screen.

Somebody at a another forum said that the max232 chip might be faulty and to repair it. Could this be the problem and if so I have a max3232 cse1125 chip and then I have found another component laying around which has a max 3232 cse1108. Can I replace the dreambox chip with the other chip that I have found. They are both 16 pin and from what I can see, both are used on the rs232 connection on both boards. I really hope this might help. I can also upload photos if you like to show you that the board is in new condition with out any visible fuses blown.

You guys here on this site have solved the problem for many and I do hope you are able to help with this! Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely
Julez

Problem fixed! I did as I was told and replaced the max232 with an extra that I have and then used Optiflasher to fix no ca and imediatly the box was found! Soo glad that it worked! After all the problem was the max232! Anybody with the same problem and no success on this matter just replace the max232 chip, The U17 and all will be brought back to life!
